A Review of Quad-rotor UAVs and their Motion Planning

Abstract

This review paper will give an overview of Quad-rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems, their applications and how their motion is planned. It begins with introduction on various UAV types and their uses. It then explains the principles of their operations including flight path planning and finally it demonstrates by use of case studies how UAVs have been used. The case studies expound on the practical experiences of unmanned aerial vehicles in civilian applications. It is anticipated that the findings of this paper will help expedite their use locally and attract wide research, investment and better policy regulation for their application.
