Abstract

Telecommunication has evolved to be a serviceversatile enough to be utilized in virtually all fields.Paired with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), it can beused in the public transportation sector to automate theenforcement of regulations. The Public Service Vehicles (PSV)sector has grown tremendously over recent years to the pointof nurturing an entire industry in itself. Given its magnitude,adequate regulation has proven to be a big challenge. There isalso a need to make public transportation more convenient tocommuters by providing them with a means of tracking thePSVs using their mobile phones.Carrying excess passengers, by PSVs operators, is one ofthe major problems in the sector that require constantmonitoring.
