Abstract

Beneficiation is a variety of processes whereby extracted ore from mine is reduced to particles that can be separated into mineral and gangue/waste. The beneficiation process improves the physical or chemical properties of the ore so that the metal may be recovered profitably. Beneficiation involves milling (crushing and grinding), washing, filtration, sorting, sizing, gravity concentration, magnetic separation, flotation, and agglomeration (pelletizing, sintering, briquetting, or nodulizing).
